The widow of a slain Lakewood police officer recently filed a civil lawsuit against the Lakewood Police Department. One of the charges include the killing of agent James Davies, which could’ve easily been curbed through “preventable acts and omissions.”
Davies was shot to death by a fellow policeman on the 9th of November in 2012, as the officer peered over a fence in a residential backyard in Lakewood.
Based on a recent civil complaint filed in the US District Court on Wednesday, Tamie Davis blamed the Lakewood Police Department for allowing such uncalculated risks that led to her husband’s death.
Agent Davies was said to be in his 18th hour on duty when his fellow officer, Agent Devaney Braley shot him by accident. The Jefferson County District Attorney conducted a joint investigation with the Lakewood Police Department and concluded the shooting to be accidental.
A review group took up the task to go over the shooting and concluded the Davies’ death was the cause of not following steps which lead him to take the blame. It indicated that Davies didn’t communicate effectively with his fellow officer at the time of the incident.
