Over a dozen suits filed on behalf of victims regarding the Northern California bus crash have been united in L.A., where a judge conducted by an initial hearing this month.
On April 10th 2014, a FedEx truck hauling a couple trailers crossed an Interstate 5 median near Orland, crashing straight to a bus on its way to the Humboldt State University in Arcata, California. The bus went into flames resulting ten deaths in both vehicles and numerous injuries.
More than a dozen suits have been filed since the crash, a majority in L.A., where most of the 40-plus passengers reside.
The complaints claim that FedEx was negligent and that its bus operator, San Luis Obispo-based Siverado Stages Inc., failed to offer fire suppression devices or proper emergency methods.
Early this month, the California SC Justice Tani Tani Cantil-Sakauye ordered a coordinating judge in L.A. to make a decision next month as to who would be hearing the cases.
