The federal court is hearing cases of more than 600 victims who are not eligible to be compensated from the company's compensation funds that was set up by GM to pay to victims. The compensation fund is designed to pay victims who were injured or lost a family member due issues with the 2.6 million vehicles which were recalled. That still leaves over 600 cases, 29 of which include individuals who died as a result of the issues, that are not considered eligible to receive money from the compensation fund. GM claims that the fund is only applicable to those harmed in the first 2.6 million vehicles which were recalled due to issues with the ignition switches. Those who are eligible to receive from the fund will start filing claims later this week and still continue with their lawsuit. Should the individuals accept the monies offered them from the fund, they will no longer be able to pursue a lawsuit.
